Brooks’ body of work reflects her personal mythology, depicting her views on love, memory and the cycles of life. Painting the female figure nude or “en deshabille” (partly clothed), Brooks typically blends poetic and mythic elements with insects, plants and other images from the natural world. Her aesthetic combines meticulous technique with a delicate sensuality.
Fans of The Princess Bride – not to be confused with True Love – will be familiar with the meaning of To Blave, the title of this exhibition.
