Amanda Wachob is a painter and tattoo artist living and working in New York City. Wachob articulates a feminine/feminist vision in many of her oil paintings, often drawing satirically on '50's
and '60s fashion photographs and illustrations.
"I am fascinated with magazines and ephemera (from this era). I feel enticed and subtly manipulated by them."
These outdated images of women are given new life in Wachob's colorful and articulate representations. Wachob's work has been featured in Juxtapoz and she has shown widely both nationally (Art Basel Miami, Strychnin Gallery NY , Roc La Rue Seattle) and internationally (Minascapes, Osaka , Japan ; Blutenweiss , Berlin ).
