Sean Taylor chronicles a lifetime of connections to Richmond using imagery that reaches back to a period before his birth, stretches out through his early adult life, and stumbles confidently into the present. Taylor paints on constructed wooden panels with oil and mixed media. The works vary in scale from small collage to life size figure paintings and portray the microcosmic details of his life as a metaphor for the world at large. A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where he won several coveted awards for painting, including the Richard c. von Hess Tuition/Travel Scholarship, Taylor's work is held in many private collections in the U.S. and abroad. Commenting on his tumultuous youth in Richmond, Taylor states :"There's a few thoughts to consider in this show. The first is this: if I hadn't left this town back in the nineties, I probably wouldn't be here to paint about it.
