This invitational show features the work of an eclectic group of young Richmond illustrators: Holly Camp, Jenna Chew, Katie McBride, Andy Parrish, Eric Seat, Doug Thompson, and Andrew Wright. Holly Camp is an illustrator and designer who has worked with clients such as National Public Radio and Christian Children's Fund to create a wide range of editorial and book work using whimsical imagery. Jenna Chew’s work ranges in subject matter from the observational to the surreal. The pages of her sketchbook show her meticulous attention to detail. Katie McBride is a graduate of VCU. Her clients include Richmond Magazine, Virginia Living, and Editor and Publisher Magazine. Her work has a strong narrative quality and often relates to nature. Andy Parrish is a freelance illustrator working in Richmond, VA. Scratch, Music Alive!, and RVA have featured his work. In his paintings he creates a balance between stylization and realism. Eric Seat, a graduate of VCU and the Illustration Academy, currently resides in Columbia, MO. His work has been widely recognized by the professional community including the Communication Arts Illustration Annual, The Society of Illustrators NY Illustrators Annual, and Print Magazine’s Regional Design Annual. Doug Thompson resides in Richmond and is a graduate of VCU. He specializes in watercolor and allegorical figures. His work has appeared in local, regional, and national publications as well as children’s books. Andrew R. Wright is a New York native and now resides in Richmond. His current body of work reflects his recent fascination with the ritual aspects of Northwest Native American culture.
